Peter Hagstrom

Hi there, my name is Peter Hagstrom.

It’s been a long journey up until this point of creating Inner Flow, but I genuinely believe the events in our lives are happening for our highest good.

We can choose to learn from and integrate our life lessons and experiences, or avoid them and face the consequences.

Although I haven’t always believed this.

In fact, I grew up focusing on the opposite. I had strove to blend in, keep my voice down, and avoid unnecessary attention.

Being shy and not taking risks will keep you from growing and evolving - which, I also believe is why we’ve chosen this life on earth. We all want the human experience, which means highs and lows, in all aspects: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Life can be so hard during growth opportunities, but when you’re in the flow and things are going well there’s no better feeling in the world.

When I was growing up life seemed pretty straightforward.

✏️ Get good grades

👨‍🎓 Get a degree, something is better than nothing

💰 Work hard, play hard, earn lots of money

💍 Get married

🏡 Buy a house

👨‍👧‍👦 Have kids

🏖️ Retire

For a while I was following this well worn track, but then I started going outside the lines, and I’m so grateful for that.

My story really begins at age 18 when I realized it was time to get a job like my friends. I took a position as a dishwasher at a local pizza restaurant.

After 6 months it was time for a better paying job that got me working outside, so I found work as a painter doing exterior houses. After a while I started working on residential remodels, doing everything from bathrooms to kitchens, concrete to roofing, learning a lot about the different trades.

I grew up doing a lot of house projects with my family, so this was a natural fit.

At this point I was in community college trying to figure out my major, and it made sense to work towards a career related to this, so I went for it.

3 years later I had a degree in construction management and was working on building a new high school with a big general contractor. I had the full package, 401K, benefits, nice coworkers, cozy office job.

The only problem was it didn’t feel right.

I kept having this urge to move in another direction but wasn’t sure why. Thoughts of quitting became all-consuming until I finally did.

This isn’t something I’d necessarily recommend, as I didn’t have a plan. But I felt like I couldn’t breathe and needed a break.

Within a 2 1/2 year period I had:

  • Broken up with Sarah
  • Started running
  • Reunited with Sarah
  • Ran my first marathon
  • Went vegan
  • Stopped drinking
  • Got engaged
  • Quit my job
  • Started a nonprofit
  • Sold everything I owned
  • Left for California

To say my family was shocked would be an understatement.

This was definitely a transformative time in my life, but it was also very empowering to feel like I was making my own choices.

I was becoming much more conscious, and it felt good to be making my life my own - not just doing what was expected of me, what felt safe, or easy.

After moving to California with Sarah and running our nonprofit teaching kid’s cooking classes via after school programs, we realized it would make a bigger impact to work with parents. We’ve always wanted to make a difference in the world.

This moment led us eventually to health coaching, something that we were both very passionate about. It was the first time we were able to really connect with our customers and help them achieve their goals.

We had a lot of fun doing this, but there came a point when we knew we were shifting. It’s the same feeling we had with our nonprofit, where you’re comfortable but feeling less fulfilled by the work.

I can now say I’ve survived at least 4 periods in my life where I was called to be brave, leave what was familiar, and venture in the direction that felt in alignment with my highest path.

Even though it feels like I’ve had to make this shift so many times, Sarah has been right there with me to help navigate. We’ve been together since 2006, and (for the most part) best friends the whole time.

We were called to up level our impact, and help health coaches reach more clients with their services.

    So we became business coaches.

It felt right, we pivoted, and had a lot of success with what we were teaching. Okay, Sarah did most of the teaching, as I was 'mister behind the scenes tech guy'. But I was happy with that, our work felt important.

In 2021 we made the big decision to scale our business.

We invested a lot of time & energy into building our team and expanding our reach.

That summer Sarah started to feel tension building in her body, and by spring of 2022 she couldn’t walk, stand or sit - at all 😢

Right at the same time, our revenue started to drop. There were less coaches joining our program than we needed to remain profitable.

This was officially the start of our spiritual awakening. We realized that not only did we not have the answers, but neither did any expert we could find.

When you find your spiritual path it takes you inward, and you move from operating in the brain to the heart.

          As a society we’re collectively over-thinking and under-feeling.

This single discovery has been shaping our lives ever since.

First we created Inner Money Flow, which was a natural progression from being business coaches. Helping others earn a living through work they love is so rewarding.

Now we have Inner Health Flow, which is focused on balancing & healing the body through alignment, energy, and reprogramming limiting thoughts, beliefs, and lower vibrational emotions. We believe our bodies know how to heal, we just need to tap our inner resources and follow the guidance.

I want to leave you with one final message:

I’m no more special than you are.

In fact, sometimes I’ll think about how I wish my journey was faster.

But life doesn’t work like that because every experience you have is shaping the person you are becoming now.

              So,

              Keep an open mind
              Love
              Forgive
              Believe in yourself
Focus on what you want more of
              Release all attachments
              Appreciate what you do have
              Always choose happiness

And remember, you are a powerful creator.

              Sending you love and light,

                Peter Hagstrom
